The company was established early in the 1900’s in Des Moines, Iowa, as the Hoxie Fruit and Produce Company. It had become a full-time distributor of food products by the 1960’s and in 1973 was acquired by Continental Food Services. In 1977 it moved into a new facility located in West Des Moines. SYSCO acquired the company in 1988. It was relocated into a significantly larger state-of-the-art distribution center, located in Ankeny, IA, in 2001. Sysco Iowa is proud to work with many local growers and producers. Sysco Iowa is BRC Certified - the highest standard in the industry for storage and distribution. In 2017, Sysco Iowa received an AA rating which is the highest rating possible for an audit. More than quality assured groceries come off the back of a Sysco truck.
