About

Koorsen Fire & Security is a long-established fire protection and security company headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, committed to safeguarding life and property through comprehensive safety solutions. Founded in 1946 by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Stroup as Indiana Fire Prevention and Service Company, the business began by servicing fire extinguishers out of a small garage. Over time it expanded significantly in scope and scale, eventually rebranding as Koorsen Fire & Security to reflect its broad range of fire protection and security offerings. For more than seven decades, Koorsen has grown into one of the largest independently owned fire and security service providers in the United States, maintaining a presence across multiple states with numerous branch locations. The company operates with a family-owned ethos, focusing on responsiveness, dependable service, and long-term customer relationships. Its services are designed to meet or exceed local, state, and national code requirements, ensuring that customer systems are compliant and optimized for safety. Koorsen’s service portfolio includes fire protection solutions such as fire extinguishers, fire sprinkler systems, fire alarms, fire suppression systems (including kitchen suppression), emergency and exit lighting, and more. The company also provides security systems including intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, and both commercial and residential alarm monitoring. Additional offerings cover life safety communications systems, emergency notification, nurse call systems, and mobile equipment safety solutions to protect vehicles and heavy machinery. With an emphasis on technical expertise, Koorsen employs a large staff of NICET-certified technicians, design engineers, and service professionals capable of handling projects of any size — from simple installations to complex system integrations. Their field teams provide design, installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and emergency response services, backed by training and certifications that ensure quality and reliability. Serving diverse industries — including healthcare, education, industrial facilities, retail, hospitality, property management, and construction — Koorsen positions itself as a single-source partner for comprehensive life safety and security needs.
